Another Self Portrait in graphite

I finished this pretty quickly as I was so busy with life that I didn't have much time to complete this assignment. I like how the shadowing turned out. I had a light bulb (not another light bulb) turned on near my face and the rest of the room was dark for the shadowing effect.

Class assignment (Pen & Ink)

This one took a lot of work and concentration for me. If I ever see a light bulb again it will be too soon....whew...

Ink classwork

I like working in ink! This is a sample of some classwork and I used pen and a fine brush to create it. I think I want to venture into some more work with ink now!

Starry Night in Portland (part 3/final)

I am pleased with how this turned out, as it is my first ever attempt at an oil painting.
And Van Gogh for that matter!
Next time I work with oil I plan to use my own techniques.

Starry Night in Portland (part 2)

I started to get the technique and the following day it went away...
I am struggling to keep that technique flowing and reverting to my own ways of
painting which incorporates more blending and gradual shadowing.
Van Gogh likes to paint with contrasting colors.
Not feeling so great about part 2.

Starry Night in Portland (part 1)

So, this is part 1 of my Starry Night in Portland project. I have found that working with oils can be quite forgiving, but at the same time a lot of work and VERY MESSY!
And to top it all off they take FOREVER to dry!
I feel that I am doing pretty well so far.
I am starting to get the "Van Gogh" technique down...
